Our key takeaway is that this is a weight-responsive medium-firm mattress. Sleepers over 230 pounds can engage the foam and feel its cushioning; lighter sleepers may mostly feel its pushback.

At a total height of 13-inches, the Titan Plus Luxe has four inches of cushioning above an 8-inch pocketed-coil unit, making it more comfortable than many heavy-duty mattresses without allowing uncontrolled sinkage. It has a supportive, buoyant feel with moderate contouring. We did not experience the classic memory foam hug, not did we feel that the surface was too rigid, which you may expect from a mattress designed to be firmer to support plus-size sleepers.

The quality that stood out the most was the way it separated support from hardness. The substantial coil core and dense transition layer help prevent the pelvis from dropping too far, while the quilted gel foam and TitanFlex foam make the top noticeably more forgiving than the Titan Plus Core. That balance also makes the Luxe practical for couples in different weight ranges.

The biggest drawback we noticed during testing was edge support. The perimeter is generally dependable while lying down, but we measured much more compression while sitting on the edge. People who rely on a rigid sidewall to stand up should take this into consideration before making a purchase.

The standard cover should sleep cooler than an all-foam bed because the coil unit leaves room for airflow, but it is not a true cooling surface. Hot sleepers may benefit from the optional GlacioTex cover; everyone else can reasonably save the upgrade cost.

Comfort

We want to give more context on want makes this mattress “Luxe.” It is luxurious compared with the firmer Titan Plus Core and you can feel light cushioning immediately but, it is not plush like a deep pillow-top. The quilted layer provides initial softness, followed quickly by springy resistance. Bigger sleepers should feel cushioned without continuing to sink, while average-weight sleepers will remain closer to the surface. That balance can work well for mixed-weight couples.

Firmness

We rate the Titan Plus Luxe 6.5 out of 10, with 10 being firmest. Titan calls it medium, and independent ratings generally fall between 6 and 7. A 120-pound sleeper may call it firm because they barely compress the comfort layers. A 250-pound sleeper reaches farther into the foam and experiences a more conventional medium-firm balance.

Pressure Relief

Pressure relief is the Titan Plus Luxe’s main benefit. The mattress offers good alignment and above-average cushioning for this category, but it cannot guarantee relief for every curvier sleeper. We did not experience any uncomfortable compression in our shoulders or hips while side sleeping.

People who are prone to shoulder pain may need a more conforming pillow-top, and lightweight side sleepers may need something more plush.

Support

Support is the clearest strength. Up to 900 individually encased coils distribute load instead of letting the hips collapse through thin comfort layers. This is especially helpful for back sleepers and people who bottom out on conventional foam beds. Stomach sleepers substantially over 230 pounds should be cautious: the extra cushioning can let the midsection settle farther than ideal, making the firmer Core a better choice.

Motion Isolation

The Titan Plus Luxe is bouncy, yet motion control is often surprisingly good. Motion transfer deserves special attention for couples because research examining how bed partners move during sleep found that roughly one-third of recorded movement periods were shared by both partners, even though couples were not always aware of that synchronization.

Pocketed coils localize movement, while four inches of foam absorb smaller vibrations. In our ball drop test and sleep test, routine turning was reasonably contained, but significant bounce was detected with one partner dropping heavily onto the bed while the other lies still.

Edge Support

Edge support was weaker than we would have expected. We measured 4.5 inches of compression while sitting on the edge. However, the edge was still stable and supportive while lying near the edge. We feel that couples can use most of the surface, but if it is important to you to be able to sit on the edge without excessive sinking, you might want to look at other options.

Cooling

We tested the standard cover option, so our score does not include the optional GlacioTex upgrade. It tested temperature-neutral to moderately cool, not actively cold. Gel-infused foam and the breathable coil core reduce heat buildup. Consistently hot sleepers may want to upgrade to the GlacioTex, butaverage sleepers can likely save the upgrade cost.

Responsiveness

Responsiveness was good and the surface felt springier than slow memory foam, and the coils add substantial rebound. The coils react immediately, while the quilted foam takes longer to finish returning to shape. Overall, the mattress was easy to move across, not sinky.

Sinkage

Expect controlled, moderate sinkage. The hips and shoulders settle into the foam, but the transition layer and coils prevent a deep embrace. Published measurements vary, which is why one ball-drop result should not be treated as a universal body experience. The important feature is progressive resistance: more weight activates more support instead of causing runaway compression.

Durability

Heavy-duty coils, dense comfort foams and a one-inch base make the design more reassuring than a typical bed-in-a-box at this price. Titan says a Titan hybrid endured 200,000 rollator cycles, but that marketing test does not prove every Plus Luxe will look new after a decade. A realistic planning range is roughly seven to nine years. Rotate it every six to eight months and use a solid foundation or slats no more than five inches apart.

Noise and Off-Gassing

Pocketed coils are generally quiet, and with the Titan Plus Luxe, we didn’t notice any new-mattress noise. The EPA explains that volatile organic compounds can be released as gases from furnishings and recommends increasing ventilation around products that emit them,  which is why opening the mattress in a well-ventilated room is sensible.

We did notice a slight off-gassing odor, which is typical for a compressed bed with multiple foam layers. Titan states that the mattress uses CertiPUR-US certified foams and is GREENGUARD Gold certified, although certification does not mean zero odor.

Sex Performance

The Plus Luxe performs well for sex because it is responsive, easy to move across and cooler than dense foam. Its softer seated perimeter is the limitation. The middle feels stable and mobile, but couples who rely on the very edge may notice more collapse.

Best For by Body Type

The Plus Luxe makes the most sense above 230 pounds, especially for side sleepers, medium-firm back sleepers and combination sleepers. Average-weight back sleepers can also do well. Results for average-weight side sleepers are less predictable, while sleepers under 130 pounds may not compress the comfort layers enough to access their intended cushioning.

Sleep Positions

Side sleepers: This is the Titan model we would choose for most plus-size side sleepers. Four inches of upper material let the shoulder and hip settle while the coils limit sag.

Back sleepers: This is its broadest success. The foam fills the lumbar curve while the coils keep the pelvis from dropping too far.

Stomach sleepers: Weight distribution decides the fit. If the hips dip and pull the lower back into an exaggerated curve, choose the firmer Core.

Combination sleepers: Responsive foam and high bounce make it easy to rotate without the delayed release of slow memory foam.

The Titan Plus Luxe is a 13-inch, one-sided hybrid made in the United States with domestic and imported components:

1. Standard knit cover or optional GlacioTex cover: Our model has the standard breathable fabric. GlacioTex adds a cool-to-the-touch phase-change surface but does not change firmness or support.

Titan calls this a five-layer design, while independent cutaway descriptions also identify the one-inch base foam. More importantly, Titan’s page says in one place that the mattress supports more than 1,200 pounds but states a 1,000-pound capacity in its FAQ. Until Titan reconciles those claims, we recommend using the more conservative 1,000-pound total capacity.

We paid $1,199 for a queen, a $400 or 25% discount from the $1,599 full list price. At that price, the Titan Plus Luxe earns one of its highest scores.
